Matilde Tortora (Italy, 1948) is author of several books of poems including Casa Tettoia, Periferia 1980 (Joppolo-Piccolo Award), An added ancestor / Monte Pavone, Andrea Livi Editore 1990, Her poems are in various anthologies, including Care Donne (edited by E. Malagò and G. Prosperi) Forum / Fifth Generation 1980, Italian Erotic Poetry of the 1900s (edited by Carlo Villa) Newton Compton 1980, won the Poetry Award of the International Women's House in 1990. She conceived and edited "Poesia in corpore", University of Calabria 1994. Her poems were published in Crocetti's "Poesia" magazine in May 2000. She also participated in various events including “Literature at the Botanical Garden, Literature Festival. The voices of writing "(directed by Giorgio Weiss) Rome 1988 and in the 1989 edition," The birth of poetry "(edited by Lamberto Pignotti) Palazzo Braschi, Rome 1979, then the following year at the Central Municipal Library of Florence, Palazzo Bosdari in Ancona and the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne. The book L’abbecedario del bosco is published by Mongolfiera Editrice. In 2000 she was awarded the Culture Prize of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

I am really delighted to share with you the delicate memories of Italian poet and author, Matilde Tortora. In every room of the exhibition there is a mesmerising story to listen and see.
We share with you the poem "The visit" and some photos in the House of Voices. La visita by Matilde Tortora (unpublished) Uno dei tanti giorni ch’era in casa, intenta, a fine mese, al consueto suo fare i conti della spesa, le tendine comperate per la Pasqua, come a dirsi: Primavera non tardare! mio fratello con un pugno nella lastra, fuori pioveva e “devo assolutamente andare dal parrucchiere” ricevette una visita: l’Angelo tardivo venuto a dirle un segreto. Fu grata di quella visita, se pure del tutto inaspettata, si protese come ci si protende, grati a vederlo, all’imprevisto fioccare di neve, fuori stagione. S’ingegnò d’istinto che lui non scorgesse le briciole, evidenti come capi d’accusa, sul tavolo rimaste sparpagliate dal mattino, le tazze nel lavello, alcune un po’ sbreccate, si volse a Lui, nello sforzo la sedia scricchiolò, nascose nel grembiule la matita, si mise di lato disposta ad ascoltare. L’angelo le si avvicinò, le lunghe ali dispiegate, quasi le planò accanto, Ella ne udì il fragore, il respiro, ne vide il brillìo della veste, il lampadario oscillò. Così tanto dappresso, ne avvertì l’impellenza, il soffio caldo della voce simile ad una brezza. L’angelo cominciò a parlare, le disse delle cose. Peccato che per tutto il tempo si fosse espresso in una lingua straniera! Così di tutto quel trambusto a mia madre gliene incolse, quel giorno, un grande mal di testa. Radunò i fogli, li mise nel cassetto, raccolse ogni pur piccola briciola dal tavolo, s’ accertò che il lampadario avesse retto, prese in mano la scopa, col suo solito piglio per terra cominciò a spazzare, negli angoli stanò i pezzi di vetro della lastra frantumata. I piedi ingarbugliati nella saggina, anche quel giorno non le riuscì in alcun modo di volare.
